A Journey to Life's Greatest Discoveries Through Reading and Writing.
Help me give my students the paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, posters and other accessories needed to promote a positive classroom environment that will, in turn, allow my students to focus and excel to become effective readers and writers.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Having plenty of paper, pencils, pens, and other accessories will allow students in my Reading and Writing 1 class to prepare and succeed in the next phase of their journey: nine-grade literature.
The goal of my project is to give my students the opportunity and the confidence that they need to become better and more efficient readers and writers.
One facet of my project is to have students chronicle their journey to better reading and writing by creating a journal. Each student will be given a composition notebook, a one-subject notebook, and pencils at the beginning of the semester. The composition notebook will be used by students as the journal, while the one-subject notebook will be used to take notes. Students will be given regular notebook paper to use for assignments that have to be turned in. Students will hand in their journals at the end of the semester for a grade and given back to them so that they can continue their writing journey into the next semester.
Because my students are special to me, I will make sure that I will provide a classroom that is filled with positive posters and quotes on the walls and doors. Some of the posters will include "parts of speech" that will provide assistance to students throughout the year. With the side-out display that I receive for my laptop, I will be able to have students at my desk and give them maximum assistance, as well as privacy, as we talk about assignments and other needs. Students will love coming to their classroom and feel like they can do their best work in here. The positive classroom experience, along with the abundance of writing tools, will prepare students to excel now in reading and writing throughout their educational journey.
