Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see my students working in pairs, in small groups and there is definitely a buzz. You will see students working on Chromebooks, iPad minis, and even personal smartphones. My students are used to using many different modalities to demonstrate their understanding. More than half of the students in our school come from low-income homes.
My students are a group of seventh and eighth graders who are English-language learners and Spanish-language learners.
They have been learning in both languages since kindergarten in our school, which is a K-8 grade school model.
My Project
My plan is to begin to replace the iPads we have in our classroom. Ours are outdated. Some of the applications we use in class are not supported by the first generation iPad minis we currently have. The iPad we are requesting does not need to be on our school's network. The one we are asking for will have access to Wi-FI on a plan which will make it easier for us to take outside of the classroom.
The resources we are asking for will really improve the quality of my students' work.
We also like to have a portable printer that will be used when my students need to print out their findings or pictures. We have been fortunate enough to have iPads and iPods to use. Our devices can connect with the portable printer over wireless internet. This will allow them to print their items while we are outside using a hot spot. The Apple TV will be used to connect our iPad to the projector. This will make things easier. Instead of connecting a computer to the projector, we can log in to our Google accounts on the iPads and present their work to the class.
