My kindergarten students come from all walks of life. Serving a military community gives me the opportunity to teach students who have seen more of the world than I have but I also serve those who have never made it out of the county they were born in. The needs of my students are just as unique and diverse as they are.
I love that my students are excited about what each new day brings.
Whether they come to me knowing how to read and write sentences or if they are still learning how to recognize their own written name; I love being able to bring the joy of learning and a sense of accomplishment to my students.
My Project
We LOVE books!! Unfortunately, our books currently do not have an easily accessible home for my students to access. Our school has been blessed with a new building starting this school year but the majority of our storage space in our classrooms is closed to students. We have plenty of storage space for manipulatives and center activities but hardly any book shelves.
Books give my students the opportunity to learn and explore without leaving the classroom.
With this book shelf I will be able to give my students access to many of their favorite characters, authors and genres that would otherwise be stored up in a cabinet and likely forgotten. Over the years I have built a classroom library of 2,000+ books for my students. This book shelf will ensure that my students will have ample opportunity to have an amazing book in their hands each day.
