My students need a bookshelf; a home to store some of the wonderful literature that I have collected over the years.
This project expired on October 25, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students LOVE reading, and come from diverse linguistic, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Approximately 50% of my students qualify for free/reduced lunch.
This past year I realized that students were rushing through their small group assignments.
Why? They wanted to get to our class library and read! Students knew that once they finished their work, they would be able to go and dive into a book of their choice. From science to art/music, and everything in between, my students enjoy having multiple opportunities throughout the day to read in our class library.
Adding a bookshelf to our library will help with organizing and retrieving books easily. This is key for young learners, as this keeps them from being overwhelmed by their choices.
Kids love having access to books, and when they are organized in a kid friendly way, this makes it easier to find what they are looking for.
Whether they are researching for writing projects, or looking for an old favorite to enjoy during their down time, having an organized bookshelf puts learning at their fingertips. Adding this bookshelf also helps students learn about the proper care of books, as they will be responsible for returning the books to their correct sections.
