This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are thoughtful, inquisitive, and creative. They are always looking for a way to be exploring new ideas and always try their best. They love math. Challenging each other to achieve more and take risks when solving equations.
My students work hard building each other up and strive for integrity and respect both in and out of the classroom.
A joy of reading is something we are working on as they do not have the proper resources at home to advance in their literacy. Each day we work hard to remember that readers are leaders!
My Project
All of these items are representative of the immediate needs I see in my classroom each and every day. We desperately need a rug so my students feel more at home in our classroom. It is a place for gathering, learning, lounging, and reading. This will enhance our classroom environment and community. Our floors are tile, so the chair covers will help keep noise to a minimum and keep instructional time sacred. The bouncy string for the chairs was picked with specific students in mind with the hope that it will add to their learning. The books will inspire the next generation of leaders as they read them on our carpet. The math games will help create an environment that isn't focused on always having the right answer, but having fun each day.
Each student deserves a room that feels like home and nurtures their brain enough so it will grow!
