Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school. My students face challenges every day in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are so excited about school. School is a safe place for them, a place where no one can hurt them, physically or emotionally. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch because for many students, school is the only place where they will be able to eat.
Although odds may be against them, they have the perseverance to succeed in school.
They are some of the most resilient students and are ready to learn every day. My focus is to give them a rich learning environment with positive experiences and hope for their future. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
My Project
If my school is able to get a heat press, we can use it to make shirts, hats and other apparel for all of the amazing clubs and activities happening this year! One of the reasons I love my school is because of all of the dedicated staff members who donate their time to sponsor clubs and activities for our students. Instead of having to pay an outside vendor to make school shirts, we would be able to cut down a huge percentage of the cost by making them here at school! Staff members would be able to create one of a kind shirts and hats that are unique to their club and our students. In the classroom, students would be able to celebrate reaching their goals.
