My Students

As a teacher in a low income school, our students are not afforded the same meaningful learning opportunities as those who may be in a more stable financial atmosphere. Our classrooms come ill-equipped with material needed to have that hands-on, independent experience. Our students are already at a disadvantage in their neighborhoods, so I want to create a learning environment where all students thrive.

Independent work stations or centers are an excellent time for students to explore concepts and skills that have been previously introduced.

My students are creative, clever, inquisitive, and eager to learn more and more daily. They love the freedom to choose and explore engaging activities that help them become successful. The materials I request will help them grow as independent learners and encourage the repetition of skills in new and exciting ways.

Having material with all the pieces and material that can easily be manipulated will help my students on the road to success. They will be able to engage either independently or with one another as they explore and create and inquire with positive interactions.

My Project

My students will have the opportunity to manipulate a range of skills and concepts in multiple ways. They will gain the opportunity to practice alphabet, phonics, and early reading skills through multiple mediums. The items I have chosen for my class will address all learners' needs.

The materials will encourage the repetition of skills in new and engaging ways.

The students will have access to the material which will build confidence and encourage them to explore each resource. I also have confidence that I am building successful students with creative and meaningful activities who have a lifetime of learning to go.
