Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Trenton, New Jersey, (and this is amazing!) is a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native to Trenton, struggle to meet basic needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to provide them with both essential items that they can access at any time and exciting extracurricular opportunities. Their social/emotional well-being and mental health depend on knowing that they are free to use basic needs items that will not run out and that they have coaches willing to support them as they strive to meet their goals!
The shoes I am requesting will provide our track and field students with the necessary basic needs for success both on and off the track.
These shoes will go a long way in ensuring our students have exciting extracurricular sporting opportunities that support their social-emotional learning and mental health needs. I am requesting these shoes for students in need who have just arrived in our country. Students will be able to use them daily!
