A Great Addition To Mathematical Success!

My students need calculators for everyday math to accommodate their IEP's, perform classroom tasks, assignments, tests and quizzes. My students have their very own "math bag" filled with the materials required for their everyday mathematics lessons.

My Students

My students are classified as students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities, ASD, as well as learning disabled. This year, my students range from grades 2-5, and each learn in their own way.

The reason for small group instruction is so that I can focus on the needs of each particular student and help them strengthen their knowledge in a target area.

Some of my students are served mainly in a general education classroom and at times I will "push in" to that class during a certain subject, or pull them to my room for 1:1 or small group instruction. These accommodations help when it comes to testing such as having directions read aloud to them, testing in a quiet room, use calculators and number lines, and extra preparation for standardized testing.

What I love most about my students' differences, is just that...their differences. Each child brings something new to my classroom that I love and appreciate. We laugh a lot in our classroom! We celebrate each other's accomplishments and cheer each other on.

My Project

Each of my students has their very own "math bag" that is filled with materials needed to complete their everyday mathematical learning. These calculators will help them with their daily math work and assessments.

My students use calculators daily as part of their accommodations in my special education classroom.

These particular calculators are the exact ones approved by the county and we are running very low and are in need of some new ones.

Along with hundreds charts, multiplication charts, numbers lines, clocks and money, calculators are used the most. Some students use them just to check their answers, while others rely on them through each step of a mathematical equation.
