I'm just about to finish my first year of teaching as an Exceptional Education Teacher at Alberta Smith Elementary, teaching students with Intellectual Disabilities and Learning Disabilities. My day consists of pulling students together for 1:1 & small group instruction. This type of instruction is essential for each student to get the attention they deserve, and allows me to expand my knowledge about each students strengths and areas of difficulty. This way I can adjust each lesson accordingly to fit their needs. My "kids" range from grades K-5 and their abilities vary, so it is important that I have the tools at the ready in case I need to switch gears. As I move on to my 2nd year of teaching, I hope to provide the materials my students need to find succes and understanding in their academics. It is important to me to make my classroom a comfortable, fun and easy going environment for all of my kiddo's.
