My classroom is the backbone and safe-haven of many of my students. All the children in our school receive free and reduced lunch. Many also receive community donations of coats, hats, mittens, boots and more.
My students look forward to coming to school throughout the week and miss the routine and stability of our classroom environment when home on the weekend or extended breaks.
I put a heavy focus on incorporating throughout the day, social-emotional skills through the Second Step program. I also teach the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids through Leader in Me and work diligently to treat the children in my room as my own at home.
I teach my students that each moment is a chance to make a change in what we do, how we think or what we feel. My students are special because they have shown me how to continuously think outside the box to solve problems.
My Project
My 21 students are busy accomplishing all that modern-day 3rd grade demands of them. The paper mailbox sorter they are using is falling apart. My students now and for years to come deserve to have the best. They deserve to have items that will help them to stay organized and help them to achieve their goals.
I am not just teaching the children Math, English, Social Studies, and Science but I also teach them how to organize their lives.
I teach them to take care of their belongings and work with them to take responsibility for their own work. Support not only this year's class but my classes for years to come!
