These resources have quickly become an important part of our daily routine in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was contagious! They couldn't wait to explore everything. One student who often struggles to stay seated during small group time now uses a sensory fidget to help him stay focused. Another loves wrapping up in the sensory blanket during writing time, she says it helps her feel cozy and ready to think.\r\n\r\nWe're using these tools to support self-regulation and independence. The students are learning to identify when they need a break and how to use sensory items to help themselves reset. It's been amazing to see their confidence and engagement grow.\r\n\r\nOur next step is building a dedicated \"Calm Corner\" where students can choose the tool that best helps them refocus before returning to learning. Your donation made that possible, you've helped create a more supportive, inclusive environment where every child can do their best.","fullyFundedDate":1757593570590,"projectUrl":"project/first-year-teacher-big-sensory-needs/9681101/","projectTitle":"First-Year Teacher, Big Sensory Needs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morrison","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10092425_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754165871632","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10092425"},{"teacherId":10098737,"projectId":9510876,"letterContent":"I wanted to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donations to our classroom. Your generosity has made a tremendous difference in the learning environment for my students, and I am excited to share the impact this project has already had on their growth and success.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first day the materials arrived, the excitement among the students was palpable. The stools and flexible seating options immediately gave them a sense of ownership over their learning space. For many of my students, sitting in a traditional desk and chair for extended periods has been a challenge. The addition of flexible seating allowed them to choose spots where they felt most comfortable and able to focus, whether it was a stool at a group table, a chair with a fidget band to help with movement, or another area of the classroom where they could settle in. This simple shift in choice and comfort has translated into longer periods of engagement and more productive learning time.\r\n\r\nThe writing paper has been another essential addition. For students, the tactile experience of writing by hand is still a critical skill, especially as they practice forming ideas, drafting stories, and organizing their thoughts. Having a steady supply of paper meant that students no longer had to worry about whether they could complete their work or feel limited in how much they could write. Several students who had previously struggled to write more than a few sentences have begun filling entire pages. This has boosted their confidence, and they are beginning to see themselves as writers with valuable ideas to share.\r\n\r\nThe fidget bands have also made a noticeable difference in our classroom. Many of my students need movement in order to stay focused, and these tools have allowed them to quietly release energy without causing distractions. Students who once found it difficult to stay seated are now able to participate more fully during lessons. I have witnessed increased attention spans, fewer interruptions, and a calmer overall classroom environment. These changes have created a ripple effect, benefiting not just the individual students who use the bands, but the entire class.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support has shown my students that their education matters and that there are people who believe in their potential. When I explained that these resources came from generous donors who wanted to support their learning, the students were amazed and touched. They expressed excitement and gratitude, and many of them shared how much easier it is for them to learn and concentrate now.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and vision. Your contribution has given my students the tools to thrive academically and emotionally. The impact of your gift will continue to be felt each day as my students grow more confident, more engaged, and more successful in their learning journey.","fullyFundedDate":1746786250312,"projectUrl":"project/inclusive-and-essentials-for-the-classro/9052429/","projectTitle":"Inclusive and Essentials for the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Heimann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9375298_orig.jpg?crop=1512,1512,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700448501637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9375298"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69050","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":597,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":69050,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Comstock Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Comstock Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/comstock-public-schools/comstock-north-elementary-school/69050"}
