Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My tiny first graders are having their first real experience with school due to the pandemic. Many of them missed a real kindergarten year, because they stayed home for virtual learning. Therefore, it is extremely important to help them stay healthy and in school as much as possible.

I am so proud of their growth and newly found excitement for learning.

I know this next semester of teaching and learning will show even greater academic achievement than the first semester.

My Project

As we enter the 2nd semester of school, it is quite obvious that my little first graders are growing academically and physically. The uniforms that they started school with are no longer fitting their growing bodies comfortably. When the kids feel uncomfortable in their clothes, they stop paying attention to the lessons going on in class. They spend their time fidgeting with their too tight or too short clothes. If I can make my students more comfortable by replacing an uncomfortable item of clothing, they will be able to continue on the road to academic success without being distracted.
