This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are working very hard to set a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful throughout their lives. My goal is to have a classroom that fosters a safe and nurturing environment.

In my classroom, all of my students are second language English.

Our school has students from all over the world including Eritrea, Syria, and Nepal. Our school is Title I, which means my students come from high poverty and may not have access to materials and resources at home.

My Project

The kindergarten students will be given an opportunity to visit The North Carolina Zoo to experience "real life" animals. The students will be able to make connections to everyday learning by experiencing different animal habitats. The zoo tours will stimulate curiosity about animals and their habitats and encourage respect for the natural world, and the actions they can take to help protect and preserve Earth’s precious natural resources. My students will explore the unique climates and organisms of the world's major plants and animals while making connections to NC Zoo habitats. While at the Zoo, we will use observational skills to analyze many different features of animals.
