Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at my school come from many different backgrounds and families with diverse learning styles and needs. Our classroom needs vary greatly as some students come to school simply lacking the ability to bring school supplies while others come to school hungry. My focus is to create a reliable, predictable, and comfortable space for students to come to where they don't need to worry about what they don't have, but instead feel taken care of, safe, and ready to learn.

My Project

Back to school supply lists and brand new backpacks filled with fancy new supplies are not the reality for the majority of my students. My goal in this project is to fill in the gaps within my classroom to create a fully stocked learning space of learning materials and an accessible snack pantry.

Worrying about being too hungry to play at recess, stay awake in class, or having a pencil to use are things I would to eliminate from my students' worrying minds.

For the past 3 years, I have tried to create a "homey" classroom, somewhere kids can come to feel safe and assured that they are taken care of while they are with me.

Funding this project takes away the stress of wondering where these essential things will come from.
