A Few of Our Favorite Things

Help me give my students some lockbox rewards this year. Students will complete various lockbox activities, displaying their mastery of grade-level content, to unlock the treasures inside!

My Students

My 4th graders love to explore and learn using the hands-on tools that we have in our classroom. They become animated when they get to use the available tools and dive into their learning. The resources from this project will reward them with fun prizes for completing lockbox activities in the core areas of reading, math, and science. In addition, they will use the materials to make keepsakes of their 4th-grade year.

I love watching them be in the driver's seat of their educational journey, watching them learn and grow as they dive into the task at hand.

They are truly engaged and inspired as they take control of their learning! This age group is an amazing group of children, ready to lead our classroom into the 21st century with technology and knowledge.

My Project

Students will be able to solve content puzzles in order to unlock the lockboxes for math, science, and reading. These activities include math problems, reading comprehension activities, and science STEM activities to move on to the next clue. The lockbox activities will be purchased on Teachers pay Teachers (TPT), allowing resources to be accessed digitally, and will help gather formative data about students' mastery of concepts.

Students will participate in an escape room activity that concludes with them unlocking their tool chests and enjoying the treats that are inside.

This project will provide the fun rewards that students will receive upon completion of the activity. Students will be able to use the pencils, erasers, and other learning tools throughout the year after completing each lockbox activity. Students love racing against each other to see which team can complete the activities correctly and quickly.

Other project resources will be used to teach our end-of-year thematic unit on the Titanic and create a keepsake of 4th grade.

After a year without any of these activities because of COVID-19, students are excited to resume group and hands-on activities.
