Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a blended classroom that consists of a diverse crowd of special needs students, English language learners, and students from the general education population.
My students range in ages from three to five years old.
As a Special Education teacher, I serve a diverse crowd of students with special needs. The students I serve are mostly African-American and Hispanic. My students come from low socioeconomic circumstances. The parents and community try their best to support these students. These students inspire me to be a better teacher and person, and I learn from them daily. The uniqueness each of my students brings to the class is unimaginable.
My Project
These materials will be used every day both inside and outside of the classroom. It is that time of year again where germs are on the rise. I am requesting Clorox wipes, paper towels, dish soaps, and disinfectant spray to keep my room clean, tidy and germ-free. We try our best to keep our room germ free as much as possible. We disinfect the tables and chairs daily, rinse many items with dish soap and warm water and we make sure at the end of the day we disinfect as many toys as possible as well as wash our hands in our new classroom sink. We have a limited "wish list" of stuff we could ask our parents for. I will say, our parents do try their best to donate the materials listed above, but we understand economic times are hard.
Since many of our students at this age have an immune system working hard to keep them healthy, these requested materials will assure us that our students are healthy and come to school daily to get the best out of their education.
After all, we all know the early and healthy development of children is substantial in order to emerge their pre-reading skills, early math skills, and early literacy skills to feel confident for kindergarten.
