Help me give my students a dollhouse! Dramatic play is an important skill, as is the opportunity to work collaboratively to build. I want my students to be able to pretend play with the pose and play families.
I teach a moderate special education preschool class. My students are 3-5 years old and super adorable. They all have the innate desire to form meaningful relationships and need a little boost to help them get there. Also, to keep them engaged, novelty is key. Students need to have a rotation of materials to keep things fresh.
The students that I work are developing the skills that form the foundation to help them build meaningful relationships with their peers.
My students need help learning how to do the following things: wait their turn, share toys, pass items to a friend, have appropriate physical contact with peers, use play language such as "my turn" and "your turn".
My Project
I would like to surprise my students with a dollhouse complete with furniture and people. Dramatic and pretend play is an essential skill for preschoolers to learn and this dollhouse will provide ample opportunities. It is giant which means several children can work together to fill the house with furniture and family members.
I believe that when the children play with the dollhouse they will build stronger relationships with each other while also using their imaginations to create their dream home.
The dollhouse will also provide opportunities for language development as students will be able to talk about the scenarios that they set up.
