Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students need a place to gather and feel part of a learning community. A classroom rug provides a comfortable designated space for opportunities to bond with each other, have fun, work collaboratively, and support each each other as they learn together. It provides a central place to gather, improve children's focus and provides a place where the teacher can get students' attention quickly and easily.
Moreover, a rug will be an essential tool in my classroom for students that need sensory input.
It can provide tactile stimulation for students with sensory needs.
Lastly, students need choices. A rug creates a soft inviting environment for students to gather as a whole class or when working independently. Some students need a place to be able to lie down, cool off or just spread out when working. It's nice to know that there are other places to work other than your desk and chair.
A classroom rug will give my young students a comfortable place to expand their learning space onto the floor.
