Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These students are Juniors and Seniors enrolled in either AP U.S. History or AP Physics in a low income urban school district. Many of them are striving to be the first generation in their family to go to college and they work very hard every day to make their families proud.
Our kids balance demanding academics, extra curriculars, work commitments, family obligations, and still show up every day ready to work hard and succeed.
Please help give them this opportunity.
My Project
This trip presents an opportunity for students to experience first hand the topics and themes they are currently learning in class. In AP US History students explore historical patterns of immigration and the effect of immigration on social, political, and cultural life in America. In AP Physics students study the forces of gravity, tension, and stress as relates to the construction of buildings.
Many of these students have aspirations to be engineers and are literally the first generation in their family to attend school in America.
This would give them the chance to broaden their horizons and benefit intellectually from an enriching experience that is normally outside of their financial means.
Our mission is to create learning opportunities for our students inside and outside the classroom that help them achieve their college and career goals. We thank you for your consideration.
