My students need a Cricut Air bundle to create props and manipulatives for the classroom.
This project expired on November 14, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
8th grade may not seem like the best age to teach, but it totally is. I teach students in the 8th grade who come from a variety of cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds. Middle school is an interesting place to be- we have students who stand around 4 feet all the way up to well over 6 feet! I teach English and my department has done some amazing things in the six years I have been with this school. We have infused a love of reading into a curriculum that we essentially designed ourselves. Students are challenged to read what THEY want to read- and to learn from it as well. I want my students to be creative, independent and to develop a lifelong love of learning.
Students are not standardized, so their education should not be either.
Learning does not only happen from the desk- my students love going outside to write poetry, acting out scenes from Shakespeare or doing a scavenger hunt for parts of speech. We get the job done while developing memories and meaningful learning experiences.
In my classroom, we do a lot of creative projects. My Gifted class often acts out scenes from books and plays that we read. We always make our own paper props to enhance the experience. Having this machine would allow us to print off special decals and shapes to use to enhance our props. This item will also benefit other 8th grade classes as well. My teammates will have access to this machine and its functions to create a stellar learning environment.
It's the small details that really make an experience special for students.
The Cricut will also be used to create classroom decorations to create a visually stimulating space and manipulatives for students to learn with.
