I am currently a teacher in a Title I public school in an impoverished community where the students are faced with many challenges in and out of school because of their socioeconomic status. In my classroom, I want to provide an atmosphere that is safe, positive, and different in many ways. My students come to school eager to learn and bursting with excitement to learn everything there is to know.
I want to give my students the opportunity to reach new heights, and soar to unseen levels in their education.
I do believe this goal can be attained, even as a second grade teacher, by providing the students with the best instruction daily. I believe my job is unique and very important because I have the opportunity to set a strong foundation that will allow them to be successful in all of their educational endeavors. Teaching students has been one of the greatest pleasures in my life for the last seven years. I am able to instill confidence in each of my students. They really enjoy hands-on activities even though they can't share materials and work too closely in groups but they show resilience everyday during this difficult time.
This Cricut would be used in all subjects to spark creativity in my students by allowing their work to become tangible because the students will be able to be more engaged. I hope that, as they see their creations become real, a spark would be ignited within them that pushes them to keep designing and creating. The world always needs people that are willing to think outside the box and create something new. I believe that this tool could be the first step in activating this desire within my second grade students. The students will be able to be as creative as possible with this Cricut in their hands on projects.
