Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Kindergarten students spend their days learning, exploring, and growing. Having a cozy area in the classroom gives them a special place where they can sit comfortably to read, work quietly, or take a moment to reset and refocus. Young learners benefit from spaces that feel warm and welcoming, helping them feel safe and ready to engage in learning.

A cozy seating area with soft cushions and comfortable seating allows students to gather for reading time, partner work, or independent exploration of books.

When children are comfortable, they are more likely to stay engaged and develop a love for reading. A dedicated cozy corner also encourages students to slow down, enjoy books, and practice important early literacy skills.

This space will also help students build important classroom habits such as sharing space, taking turns, and caring for their learning environment. Creating a cozy classroom area helps foster a positive community where students feel excited to learn and explore together.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
