This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our student population is wonderful and diverse. They represent countries from all over the world, speak a variety of languages, and come from a range of backgrounds. It truly makes our school a melting pot! I am frequently impressed by their fortitude, especially as I come to know the challenges that many of them have faced. Despite the obstacles they work to overcome, I can always count on their smiles and hugs to brighten my day. Their resilience is to be admired.
I'm telling you, these kiddos deserve the best!
My Project
In the Computer Lab, students log in to SuccessMaker Reading and Math which adapts to their individual abilities and helps them reach goals. It enables students who are behind to catch up and gives students who are ahead the opportunity to attempt more challenging material. Unfortunately, many of our students have been struggling to focus on their work. Due to the classroom environment and the financial burden of replacing supplies, many of them are growing frustrated that their efforts are in vain.
The materials outlined in this project will create the learning environment our students require to thrive.
The high-quality headphones will last and take the pressure off of families who are asked to repurchase the personal sets from the supply list. The light filters will temper the harsh fluorescent lights that cause eye strain and headaches. The supply cart will give students better access to learning aids and give them more independence in the classroom.
Nearly all of our students access the computer lab throughout the week, so empowering them in this space will be felt throughout the entire school!
