Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a school in Florida. There are over twenty students in my first grade class. My students are in the 'Gifted' program. Almost all of my students are Hispanic. Often, their parents work in restaurants and hotels. Some of our moms and dads do not earn a lot of money, so our students may not have access to computers/internet at home. A great deal of their classwork is supposed to be done on the internet.
My Project
My students are expected to be proficient in technology and to use certain programs online - which they simply can't access enough because our classroom lacks decent computers. These include programs to develop their Language Arts, Math and Science skills. There are three computers in our class between 21 students. The computers are outdated and they only work some of the time. Not all of my students are able to make up online work at home. Just one up-to-date touch-screen computer would make a tremendous difference to my class. More students would be able to keep up with Language Arts, Math and Science. My children deserve a well-equipped classroom. Please help my wonderful kids.
