Help me give my students a classroom rug for a place to gather and learn! A new classroom rug would offer children a new and improved place to learn, share, and grow as a community.
I teach a diverse population of students. We have a spectrum of socio-economic statuses and special needs in my classroom. What makes me most proud as a teacher is to see how well my student interact with each other, no matter their circumstances.
My classroom is a place where students are free to express themselves authentically with the knowledge and comfort that they will be respected by their peers.
I enjoy working with the community to help my students see the world outside of school walls. It is important to me that I show them the diversity of their city and the world around them.
My Project
Not every child learns in the same way, on the same day, or in the same space. While some kids are successful sitting at a desk, others need to move around the room. Additionally, so much of our day revolves around whole group lessons in the carpet area. You might remember gathering in a circle at the beginning of the school day for morning meeting or listening to your teacher read your favorite book aloud while sitting on the floor. This carpet area provides a great place for building the classroom community and learning.
The classroom rug serves as a place for whole group instruction and it provides students with a warm, safe space to engage with their classmates throughout the day.
We are constantly moving around our classroom for learning. This is a space where we would hold our morning and afternoon meetings, buddy read, play math and literacy games, and come together to read our favorite stories.
