Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school with a high population of ESOL students. I am constantly amazed by my students' desire to learn and the amount of determination they have to succeed. One of the best ways I have found to provide for all of my students' diverse needs is hands-on learning and technology integration. Technology is able to bring to life many of the abstract concepts that my students are learning about and allows them to interact with a concept, instead of merely reading about it.
Students who are actively engaged are able to learn more and at a deeper level.
Technology allows us to tailor the education to meet the educational and cultural needs of the students.
My Project
Although my school has an amazing janitorial team sometimes you need more then once a day cleaning when you have a room full of teenagers. We need to be able to wash and dry our hands in the classroom and hand soap and paper towels will facilitate that. My students also need to take responsibility for cleaning their own messes and having mops and cleaning supplies in the room will encourage students to be accountable. Lastly, the sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer pumps become invaluable during flu or other virus outbreaks reduce the chance of transmission and keeping kids healthy and in school.
