This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a small, Title I-funded charter school with over 60% poverty. Sixty percent are English language learners (or non-English speaking), and there are high trauma rates.

My students are eager to learn and grow!

I want them to be excited to come to school, to feel welcomed, included, encouraged, and supported.

My Project

It is important to have a place for everything. In kindergarten, it is easy for things to get lost or ruined. It is important to set up clear expectations for supplies and better when there are set places for those supplies to be stored.

Having our supplies organized makes it easy to find the materials we need allowing us to use the maximum amount of time learning together.

These storage totes will be used to sort and store curriculum as well as the hands-on materials that go along with it. (They are from an Amazon Seller with only 89% approval that is why I used a special request vendor for them. I cannot find these items from a different vendor.)

The Trofast shelves will give us a place to store our learning materials. Each activity can be placed inside an individual bin which allows students to get what they need quickly and easily.

(These items do not offer shipping so I will pick these up from the nearest Ikea building.) It will also cut down on spreading germs since the students will no longer need to dig through a pile of bins to find what they need.

The rolling cart will allow me to keep the manipulatives I need for small groups in an organized fashion. I will be able to quickly assess which items have been used and may need to be cleaned. (This item has free shipping so it should ship fine)

These items will help us keep as many materials as possible contained away from germs. This will also help with items getting lost or ruined.
