Hi, I'm a K-2 Science teacher at P.S. 157 in the Bronx. I teach 15 different classes of awesome students. I am so lucky that I have the opportunity to teach something I love to these students. The students at my school are very enthusiastic about science and love coming to do experiements in my classroom. One problem is that they only come to my class for one or two 50 minute periods a week. In that short amount of time it is very difficult to start, finish and CLEAN after our lesson. The students become so enthralled in our lessons that the teacher is standing at the door to pick them up in no time. To alleviate some of our time management issues, I think we need some materials to keep our classroom even cleaner and more organized.
Our science room has materials that are not easily accessible. I am asking for a storage unit with clear bins to store all of our wonderful science materials. Right now all of our science equipment is stored in plastic bins and closets. With a storage unit students would be able to access materials!
In addition to a storage unit our classroom is in dire need of a vacuum to help keep the rugs clean. Right now I need to sweep it daily with a broom. This is extremely time consuming and hard on the body. A vacuum would keep the rug clean in minutes a day.
These materials are needed to keep a clean, orderly and kid friendly classroom. The students would benefit more than anyone. They would be able to access the materials they need in seconds and come into a clean classroom every time.
