These new resources have helped me create more interactive, meaningful, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were excited and curious. Some immediately reached for the items, while others explored them with encouragement and guidance. Seeing their smiles, curiosity, and willingness to participate was truly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWe are using these materials to strengthen important skills such as matching, sorting, counting, fine motor coordination, communication, and taking turns. For example, during our math lessons, students use hands-on materials to create groups, recognize numbers, and practice counting. These activities allow students to learn through touching, exploring, and doing rather than relying only on verbal instructions.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building independence, encouraging communication through gestures, pointing, and pictures, and helping students participate in structured learning activities for longer periods of time.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided more than classroom supplies. The dry erase boards, Elkonin boxes, sound mats, magnetic letters, number lines, answer paddles, headphones, and magnetic tiles give my students opportunities to learn by doing, practicing, and sharing their thinking.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest changes has been during our phonics and phonemic awareness lessons. Students can now use the Elkonin boxes and sound chips to stretch out words, listen carefully for each sound, and physically map those sounds into boxes. Instead of simply hearing a word and giving an answer, they can move the pieces, write on their boards, and see how sounds come together to make words. Their excitement when they first saw all of the new materials was wonderful! Many students immediately wanted to touch and explore everything, and they were especially excited to use the magnetic pieces and whiteboards.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase boards and answer paddles are our most used! They have given every student a voice. During lessons, students can write a letter, number, sound, or answer and hold it up for me to see. This allows me to quickly check understanding and provide support when needed, while students get to practice without the fear of making a permanent mistake. The number line boards are helping us make math more visual and hands-on as students practice counting, number recognition, and beginning addition and subtraction.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic tiles have added another opportunity for students to build, create, and solve problems together. As they construct different designs, they are practicing fine-motor skills, spatial reasoning, communication, and early STEM thinking. The headphones also help students participate in technology-based learning activities in a focused way.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these resources during small-group phonics and math instruction while building students' independence. We will continue practicing segmenting and blending sounds, mapping words, recognizing numbers, and explaining our mathematical thinking. I am especially excited to see students move from identifying individual sounds and numbers to applying these skills when they read, write, and solve problems independently.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these learning experiences possible! My students, especially those with disabilities, have responded incredibly well to this addition. The soft, structured seating area helps them feel more secure and supported, making it easier for them to engage, stay regulated, and be included alongside their peers. Since getting our new library, students feel like reading time is a reward for their hard work. Each student was able to stay hydrated throughout the school day, which kept them more attentive physically and mentally. They took pride in having their own reusable water bottle. Students would take their bottles home to clean them and refill them and then bring them back to school the next day.\r\n\r\nHaving water bottles cut down with students asking to leave the room to go get water. It also helped keep students cool when they entered rooms that had no air-conditioning. All in all, I was happy about having this project fulfilled because it also kept students away from water fountains where germs sometimes spread and sometimes water can be contaminated due to old pipes. \r\n\r\nUnfortunately I do not have any photographs as this project was fulfilled years ago.
