Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I would like to provide my students with a classroom library that is inclusive and focuses on social emotional awareness. Due to the pandemic, my students are not yet able to identify their feelings and those of others. They lack many social skills and I would like to aid them with books.
My students need to see visual examples of how to properly engage with one another. I want to create a warm and inviting library space. I want my students to feel encouraged to read books that are relatable to them and their experiences. I have included books from the elephant and piggy collection, in where students will learn to identify their emotions. Diverse books such as "I am Enough", that will promote diversity and acceptance in the classroom. Liquid floor tiles and comfy floor seats to create a comfortable atmosphere for my students to read and imagine. These resources will be a great addition to my classroom and my students' academic learning experience.
