I have the opportunity to teach in a smaller group setting. The students I work with have a variety of learning needs and challenges. Sometimes they need help with reading, writing or math. My students come from a great and supportive community. My school has had many honors including; New Hampshire Middle School of the Year, Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year. But still, there is a need for help with this population of students.
Having a variety of books in different genres would be a wonderful addition to my small classroom library that I have inherited.
My students are curious and reading is a wonderful way to help them with creativity and to escape to. Some of my students are not fans of reading, many have admitted to me it is because they have not found the right book yet. I am a firm believer in "hook books", the first book in a series. If a student likes it, they will continue with the series or the author. I want to be the one to help them find their it book, your donation will help me achieve this goal and help my students grow as learners.
My Project
By having a diverse and vast classroom library, my students will be able to take off on a variety of adventures. They will be able to find their favorite author, series or genre. Some might even discover the joy of reading as a new favorite pastime.
These new books will help my students grow not only as learners but also as individuals.
Many have only read the books that their previous teachers have read aloud to them in class. Now they will have the opportunity to find their own new favorite as they devour these new books in our classroom library.
