The purpose of this project is to help supplement the needs of students in my classroom. As a teacher, I have noticed a trend in students not being able to afford a variety of things including school supplies and snacks. Often times some of my students come to school with no food in their stomachs at the start of the day or a snack. Yes, they may receive free or reduced lunch but this not include a snack and the breakfast or lunch may not be enough for these growing adolescents. A full belly helps students focus more on whats important than when they can eat next. Many students also do not have the ability to purchase all the materials needed for the start of the school year or even halfway through as they run out of these supplies or their item breaks. By having these needed pencils, markers, paper, and other school supplies on hand it helps reduce some stressors they may have and help them focus more on their education. A healthy learning environment is important as well. By having supplies to keep the classroom clean, my students will know that they are being cared about. By having hand sanitizer, cleaner or all surfaces and tissues the room will be a healthy space for them all year round.
