A Classroom is a Happy Home

Help me give my students happiness and joy. My students have been displaced this school year and next due to our campus being contaminated with mold. I want to bring joy and organization into their daily lives.

My Project

All 509 of my students are from families mixed with low-socioeconomic situations. Several of them move around a lot and look forward to coming to art class, as it is a stable and loving home away from home. My students come to my room before school just to have a nurturing place before the day begins. I like to have snacks and "To-Go" breakfast items and items they can take for snacks.

I encourage positivity in my classroom and have created self-goal setting sheets for every student.

Many of them also are part of my Art Club and come to help anytime they are allowed. I would like to introduce them to new ways to create art using colorless blender to mix their art when using colored pencils. My students create amazing pieces of art that have won competitions, been published and have been on display.

Organizing drawers, bins, magnet clips, and post-its would help my students come to a room where they know they can come to get art supplies and snacks. I want to make my art room more organized for my students at both campuses by using magnets and post. Every student receives are reward at every 10 reward stickers. Several times in the reward cycle my students are allowed to go the treasure box that I would like to fill with fidgets, snacks and more stickers. My students bring joy to others through their art, and I want to bring joy and happiness to their lives with a clean and organized classroom, as well as offering them happy and joyous rewards. I allow my students to achieve personal goals in the art by being kind to themselves and to each other. I want my classroom to be a place where only love flourishes.
