Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an amazing group of students in Boston Public Schools. They are curious, energetic, and eager to learn. My students are truly diverse learners with a variety of strengths and needs. I teach AP students, students with disabilities, and students who are still learning English. This is just a small example of the wide diversity of my classes.
I believe that all of my students can excel when given the appropriate tools for their learning styles.
My classes are large and contain students who learn in very different ways from one another. I seek to better support my students' achievement by providing these tools.
My Project
The materials requested will support students' diverse learning styles. Research shows that the use of a variety of low-level technology such as highlighters, sticky-notes, individual white boards, stress balls, and fidget toys are all designed to support a variety of students' needs, including students with disabilities and trauma. Specifically, students will use individual white boards to jot down ideas, draft sentences and paragraphs, and work without the intense pressure of putting pen to paper.
All students deserve the most ideal learning environments to support their growth and achievement.
These materials will help to make my classroom such a place, where all students can experience success.
