Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our beautiful school is nestled between two communities--an affluent neighborhood on one side and an urbanized sprawl on the other. Our students come from both. Despite their home-settings, they are eager to come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and appreciate challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the methods and environments in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of strategies, classroom arrangements, seating arrangements, and options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They are an amazing class, and I am so blessed and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Welcome to our class! When you enter I hope you see students busy at work talking, thinking, and writing with their pencil ready to write. Students deserve to feel prepared, motivated and supported before they put ever their thoughts to paper. These pencils will help create a space where students feel comfortable and ready to show what they know in every subject. They can even travel to other classrooms for even more learning throughout the day. Observations in Science! Concepts in Math/Financial Literacy! Notes to parents for parent engagement! Character traits from books we're reading! Meaningful stories!
I believe something as simple as a pencil brings EVERY student that much closer to improving their writing and ability to communicate all the wonderful things they are learning daily!
