Our school is located in a diverse, high poverty neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. We have exceptional community involvement and a caring and progressive administration, but we have very limited resources available to us. Several of my students are "diverse learners" or receiving special education services, and these materials will enhance their learning experience by allowing them to overcome many struggles they face in a traditional classroom. My students are motivated learners and thrive on sharing their experiences and learning from others. My students maintain high expectations for themselves and would use these materials to their fullest potential!
My Project
We need one additional chromebook and it be used on a daily basis. This Chromebook will allow me to use existing applications to target skills and provide individualized instructions to each child. Although this type of implementation of technology is new to our school, CPS does have other classrooms that have successfully implemented Chromebooks and offer forums to work together to maximize the benefits for all students.
This project will have a huge impact on my students now and in the future.
It is my goal to provide quality, individualized instruction to my students through researched based programs and sites. Success with this project will be a catalyst for change in other classrooms and provide model for achieving success with the Common Core Curriculum in urban education.
