My Project

High school students often get overlooked in their need for novelty and movement during the class period. They have extra energy that, when it is given an output, allows them to better focus and be more engaged in their own learning.

During the winter months especially, many of my students do not have an outlet for their energy.

Wobble stools, yoga balls, and wheeled chairs have all been shown to be beneficial for improved concentration. I have requested 6 rolling swivel chairs. There has been a great deal of research showing the benefit of alternative seating, with unfortunately little has done in support of it with older students. My own experience; however, with my own students shows me that this type of seating helps.
