Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a small, Title I-funded charter school with over 60% poverty. Sixty percent are English language learners (or non-English speaking), and there are high trauma rates.

My students are eager to learn and grow!

I want them to be excited to come to school, to feel welcomed, included, encouraged, and supported.

My Project

This project has different supplies, decorations, and rewards to get us through the next couple of months. We are halfway through the year and that is cause for celebration! We will start by celebrating the 100th day of school. The second half of the year is more difficult, I think it is important to reward progress and hard work. There are also a few holidays we will gear our learning goals toward to help keep things new and exciting. This year has a special 2's day, 100's Day, Valentine's Day, Literacy week, and St. Patrick's Day.

There are items that will be used as attention getters for the students as well as for engagement.

The novelty of holiday themed activities keeps students interested when practicing similar skills. These items will be used to create holiday themed learning centers for the students or to reward the students for completed tasks.
