My Students
My third graders are energetic learners. They come to school ready to learn with inquisitive minds that are like sponges. My students are eager to learn.
I teach at a large urban elementary, Title I school, in which one hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from two-parent homes in which both parents work trying to make ends meet. Some of my students come from single-parent homes. This year over half of my students speak a different language at home and thus are second language learners. I just want to provide the best educational experiences possible for all my students.
My Project
We currently have a huge and very dilapidated mailbox organizer that I salvaged from an office 20 years ago. It has served its purpose but it is falling apart and could pose a safety problem.
My students need a secure place to store text books, class library books, and science and math manipulates as well as their work.
A new metal bookcase and classroom mailboxes will not only provide a safe place for students' work, but will also allow for storage of class books which are quite heavy when there are 25 copies. After researching, a metal bookcase is the strongest solution under $400.
