My students need a comfy cozy place to read and enjoy books. These carpets and soft seats will allow their literary images to over take them into a world of reading exploration.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher of a Title I transient community, my students face various challenges while trying to learn at the mastery level. Despite the challenges I continually try to provide a clean and organized space where the brain muscles can work collectively to achieve the prize of knowledge.
This brain busting matter of students thrive on hands-on activities and books filled with words full of colorful visions that dance in their heads.
A classroom of students where messy learning is learning at its best. To the naked eye its a messy classroom, but to these students its an opportunity for independent learning and demonstration of knowledge. Once the knowledge is gained its time to clean up.
My Project
These materials will give our library section a comfy home feel where students can relax and enjoy a good book. It provides an opportunity to partner read as well. By having multiple rugs and comfy seats there are more opportunities for students to take advantage of reading because a relaxed environment is provided. A small change of scenery works wonders for students of this age to grab hold of a suggestion to read.
By having these opportunities reading becomes a choice of the student and no longer a suggestion or teacher directive.
I want to impart this seed of loving to read and with your help it can be planted to create a solid foundation.
