Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is filled with 26 beginning ESL students. Most of these students do not speak any English and are extremely excited to learn. Some of these students have never attended school before and come from families who immigrated to the US recently. Many of them come from low income households, and we all know that education is the best way to help these students.
I want my students to be able to reach their fullest potential.
This however, requires for me to have materials that spark interest and motivation.
This is my first year teaching and I am still working on filling my classroom with items to promote engagement and make my students want to come to class and be excited to learn!
My Project
My students love to read but are having a hard time navigating my classroom library. I believe that the 6 blue book bins will help them to find a book on their level and on the subject that they are looking for.
My students also need a comfy place in the classroom to enjoy a good book.
This is where the carpet would come in. I believe that placing the carpet in the classroom library will help promote them wanting to go to the library, find a good book, sit down and read it. The carpet and book bins together are truly going to build my students in their reading capabilities so much.
