Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are incredibly fortunate to have a sensory room with a few items that support all students at our school to release tension, exercise and move in order to better learn back in their classroom.

Time in a sensory room helps children improve their visual, auditory and tactile processing, as well as fine and gross motor skills.

By providing a sense of calm and comfort, sensory rooms help children learn to self-regulate their behaviors, which ultimately improves focus and academic levels.

At this time, our sensory room is incredibly hot, due to the eight windows lining the entire wall that is radiating heat from our playground blacktop right outside. Our hope, with your help, is to provide a calming view with fogged glass and birds to keep the natural light coming in but reduce the heat in our sensory room.
