In my kindergarten classroom, there are 23 curious, inventive, and energetic children that are exciting about learning. Everyday I can hear my learners saying statements like "I did it!", "I see a sight word!" or "Look what I can do!". Teaching Kindergarten is truly an amazing gift. I aim to share a magical learning environment with my students, so that they continue to love coming to school. They universally share an enthusiasm and curiosity for animals and enjoy learning through play.
My school is an independent charter school in Los Angeles that focuses on providing an inclusive education for ALL learners!
We have a strong focus on social emotional learning through our RULER program. Our students learn to identify their feelings, as well as strategies to regulate their emotions. It's truly a wonderful place to learn and grow!
My Project
I will soon welcome a new group of energetic, curious, and inquisitive new Kindergarteners into my classroom! The start of school is a big transition for any student, but particularly for little ones starting school for the first time. Our school focuses on Social Emotional Learning, and I am creating a "Calming Corner" for students to go and regulate their emotions.
Watching fish swim is so wonderfully calming and peaceful.
I hope to create a warm environment where my students can collaboratively help to care for the living creatures in our tank, learn hands on science concepts, and also have a tool to help them calm their emotions if they are feeling upset.
