My Students

Our school is in a small, rural and close-knit community in South Carolina. The average family income in our school district is lower than the state average, and nearly two-thirds of our students receive subsidized meals. While the town consists of small businesses and a few chain grocery stores and fast-food restaurants, most adults travel to larger cities in our area for employment.

Our school and district work hard with the community to provide strong academic, athletic, and artistic opportunities for students and their families.

City council, school board, and families come together in community planned events and county parks. Most of our students have a parent, grandparent, or some other family member who graduated from our community high school, making our close-knit community feel more like a family.

My Project

Students learn best when they are engaged, and these supplies are crucial for the students to be able to show what they know through project based learning! Projects for the first quarter will include research presentations, creative writing projects, book talks, presentations, strategy based reading assignments and more! After mini lessons are taught and students practice in whole and small group work stations, students will be given different assessment opportunities to show what they know about reading and writing concepts through project based activities; paper and markers are the staples for these type of learning activities, and yet are not always provided in the classroom supplies from our school/district. Please help provide the opportunity to have a "bright" start to the year!
