Each year F.A.M.E (Florida Association for Media in Education) selects books for students across Florida to enjoy. The books considered are chosen for young reader appeal, genre diversity, cultural diversity, and favorable reviews in theme, plot, and characters, along with diverse cultural backgrounds. As a Media Specialist, I strongly promote these titles in my library, and they are always a hit with my kiddos.
This year my students will participate in ANOTHER county-wide Battle of the Books competition since our last "battle" was such a success!
My students will be motivated and encouraged to choose these tiles from the media center to read and enjoy. Then, at the end of the year, students who have read all the titles will participate in a competition against other primary schools in our district just as we did last time. The Battle of the Books will revolve around the content of the books I will be able to purchase if granted these funds.
Currently, I have two copies of each title in my Media Center. However, with a student body population of a bit over 800 this year, I need a few more copies of each title to ensure my students have access to these books when they come to the library to check them out. Please help me BOOST the quantity of these titles so more of my library patrons can participate in the Battle of the Books!
