Help me give my students books to read at home during the pandemic.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Burnett's classroom raised $422
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our school is located in Harlem and serves a predominantly African American, and Hispanic population. Although most of our students enter first grade reading far below grade level, they usually make great strides in reading progress with a whole school literacy focus.
I teach at a Title I School in NYC where 100% of our children receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn. Many of them want to be the first in their families to go to college.
My Project
During these difficult days my students must make adjustments to their learning style to ensure progress in their school work. As a concerned teacher, I worry daily about my students' education. Most of the parents have lost their jobs and they are unable to buy necessities such as food and clothes. It is almost impossible for them to provide learning materials such as books to read at home.
Please help me provide books for my students to read at home.
Due to COVID-19 the books are for the children to keep. My school media center doesn't have a large collection of books so I would like to give them books to read at home.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
