Ms. Harris from Houston TX is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need copies of the book A Wrinkle in Time for our library book club. We will need copies of the book in paperback, audio, and graphic novel formats to accommodate all students.

Our school serves students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. There are more than ten different languages spoken on our campus. Many of our kiddos are newcomers to the United States. They need a lot of support adjusting not only to a new country but a new way of life. The library plays an important role in helping our newcomers as well as all of our students meet their diverse learning needs.
Our students love visiting the library because it is a place where they can have a choice in their learning.
They are free to explore and learn new things at their own pace. For our newcomers, the library is a beacon of hope. They can come in and find books and materials in their native language and get the academic support they need to help them adjust to a new learning environment. For our students the library is the heart of our school.
My students will be participating in a Library book club called "A Book and a Movie". They will be reading the book A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. The students will meet in the library before school and during lunch three days per week for five weeks to discuss the book and to participate technology related activities.
At the end of the five weeks students who have completed their book club assignments will go on a field trip to the theater to see the movie A Wrinkle in Time which is based on the book.
This new adaption of the movie is especially important to our students because of the cultural diversity that will be highlighted in the new big screen version.
By combining literacy and film the students will get an immersive reading experience. This will motivate students to read more and will help them to develop a deeper love for books.
