The books on CD that I am requesting will help visually impaired students develop a love for reading. They often describe listening to audiobooks as "watching TV books"! The sound effects and listening to the words from the book really brings the story to life. Because of the limited supply of books on CD in our school library, my VI students often listen or "watch" the same books over and over. We are in desperate need of new "TV books"! Audiobooks will also help my VI students develop a love for books and visiting the library. It makes them feel good to be able to check out books during their library visits just like everyone else.By having books on CD available for them it enables them to participate in reading challenges and other literacy activities that my sighted students can participate in.
