My Students

Most of the kids in our school come from a low income household. Our school has a poverty rate of 60% and is a Title I school. Majority of the kids receive free or reduced price meals. As you can imagine with this situation, the dynamics in my classroom are broad.

My classes enthusiasm to learn new concepts in my science and engineering class is what makes this job so rewarding.

They always come in excited to learn new concepts and can't wait to share this new knowledge with their families at home. Their drive to learn drives me as an educator to create memorable opportunities for them.

My Project

My students are in need of wobble air cushions to help with sensory needs. I have one cushion in my class currently and the impact it has made to help a student with ADHD is tremendous. As a teacher I am seeing this impact and other students are noticing how it has helped as well. I know that there are a few more students that would greatly benefit from this sensory support cushion. The air cushion will help keep their distracted movements to a minimum and will help those around them be able to concentrate. I have also asked for magnetic building tiles for my sensory corner. The tiles will offer kids a quiet activity they can go to and play with for a few minutes to decompress.
